2021 Cabernet Franc

Being one of the 5 noble Bordeaux grapes, Cabernet Franc finds it way into many Boredeaux blends...but can be difficult to find as a single varietal. Cabernet Franc is typically blended with a much more 'in your face' Bordeaux varietal, to calm it down a bit. Being sourced from the Truchard vineyard in Carneros, the longer hangtime gave it a multi-layered flavor profile...while still being its calm self.  It's continuous friendly approach, rich flavors and silky finish, Napa Valley Cabernet Franc in a bottle on its own due to limited planting around Napa Valley. In the hands of Nils, it becomes as lush as our Cabernets, with a lighter body and refined acidity. In the glass, its a swirl of deep crimson. On the nose, fragrant floral notes of misty tea rose and lavender. The palate is robust for its medium-bodied structure: dark black cherries, with a hint of sweet tobacco and black pepper. Though we are releasing it young, this wine is drinking great right now and should age wonderfully for another 5-7 years, with the tannins relaxing and the finish refining to a satin ribbon.
